This site always lists as much information about the authors and publishers of individual media as was available. Links to the original source are always shown (if known) in record details. Images and direct links to media files are provided in good will, respecting the "fair use" terms, most of them without permissions. Should some media owners oppose the direct linking or eventual direct embedding of their media on our website, I will remove them upon a simple request. I'll be also happy to hear from website and copyright owners if they want to grant this site the permission to use their media or direct links to them.
Picture of a female freediver, used in the top navigation bar, was made using a photo of an unknown 3rd party photographer I had in my private UW photo collection. Unfortunately I know neither the author nor the name of the freediver, and I also do not remember where I originally found it. If you happen to know the author or the freediver, please let me know. I'd be happy to ask for permission and post a credit to the author and the freediver.
PayPal buttons at the bottom of the page are property of PayPal and their use on the website is authorized. Photos, names, titles and descriptions used on Media Details popup cards are often copied from the website hosting or selling the media. At Amazon.com, since using affiliate links to their store, this use is explicitly permitted for registered partners like in our case. At other sources, permissions for use were received only if noted, but we hope that none of the copyright holders would mind this type of fair use. Finally, we always link back to the original website and can hence help them generating additional sales. Some of the pictures and texts from other sources were modified or enhanced to better fit the layout of ApneaBase.org, or to better fulfil their purpose.
All parts of the software (HTML, Miva Script, JavaScript, CSS, Shell Script) used on this website were developed in-house, with the only exceptions of the verification code image generation (on the edit/add submission form), which is a modified version of a PHP script by Jaap van der Meer, and the FlowPlayer embedded media player from Anssi Piirainen for the FLV format (Flash Video) viewing. Other photos, graphics artwork, and the entire page layout, text, Miva, Javascript, HTML, and CSS code used on the website were created or developed by truXoft, who is the exclusive holder of all copyrights. No part of the material or code may be re-used without a written permission from truXoft.
Hmm, well, I'll have to work on this or hire a lawyer :) In the meantime, please keep on mind that I do not want to be kept responsible for any harm you may suffer from using this website, so please use it with caution, and on your own risk only.
Our original database and any user submitted modifications, additions, or other data will remain our property, and we reserve the right to handle them in the way we consider appropriate. The exceptions are personal data submitted by users for verification purposes - user names, email addresses, and other personally identifying data. These will never be shared with third parties, published, or used for commercial purposes. They serve purely the verification process, and after the verification is completed, they may be removed from the system completely.
Also, I should mention that this site was designed for adult audience. It may contain photos or links to photos and video clips containing partial or in some cases even full nudity. Most freedivers dive in swimsuits or in neoprene wetsuits, which already may offence some sensitive souls, but to make things worse, some of the linked material contains nudity with erotic aspect - for example some underwater commercials, music or erotic videos. If you are easily offended by such images, or if you are underage, please leave this website immediately and do not come back before your current state changes :)
